Frequently asked questions.
Where are you located?
My office is located in the lower Hudson Valley in the town of Beacon, NY. I also meet with clients from anywhere in New York State and New York City virtually.
What’s your office address?
My office is at 33 Henry Street in Beacon, NY 12508. I’m in a professional building behind Main Street. My building has it’s own parking lot (no need to parallel park!), a waiting room, and restrooms.
Can we work together if I don’t live in the Hudson Valley?
I’m licensed to practice therapy in New York State. That means as long as you live in New York—whether in the Hudson Valley, New York City, Western New York—we can work together.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Absolutely! As long as you live somewhere in New York State or New York City we can meet virtually.
How much does a session cost?
My rate for a 50-minute session is $180.
Do you take insurance?
I don’t accept insurance at this time. If your insurance has out-of-network benefits, you may be able to get some or all of our session costs reimbursed. I can provide you with a receipt (aka “superbill”) to submit to your insurance company. I can reach out to your insurance company on your behalf to get information for you about your benefits.
Do you work with kids?
I generally work with ages 12+, but I’m happy to consult with parents of younger children on a case-by-case basis.
Do you work with couples?
No, I provide individual psychotherapy and do not offer couple’s therapy. I can see you individually in conjunction with your couple’s therapist, though!
How soon can we begin therapy?
As of right now (Summer 2025), I can schedule our first session within a week of our initial phone call.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, psychotherapists do not prescribe medication. I can help you find a psychiatrist or other prescriber if needed.
Do I have to be on medication to be in therapy?
Not at all! There’s no requirement to be on medication as part of our work together. If you decide that medication may be helpful, I can refer you to a psychiatrist and work with them.
Do you write letters for top surgery?
Yes! I can write you a letter for top surgery, bottom surgery, and other gender-affirming procedures. There is no additional cost for the letter outside of the regular $180 session fee.
How can I book an appointment?
First, let’s have a quick phone consultation (free of charge!) to talk about how I can be helpful to you. You’re welcome to schedule that by calling or texting me at 845-603-2026, emailing me at KristenVergeLCSW@gmail.com, or scheduling a time on my online calendar. This information is also listed on Make an Appointment.
